God’s Valentine

This week we celebrated Valentine’s Day, a day when many celebrate love and those special to them.  So often we think of Valentine’s Day as a day reserved for couples and “people in love.”   Some jokingly refer to it as Singles Awareness Day.   But did it ever occur to you that we are God’s valentines?  You may never have thought about it in that way before, but we are.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

“For Your faithful love is before my eyes, and I live by Your truth.”  Psalm 26:3

Jesus told his disciples, “for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”  John 16:27  Your love, LORD, reaches to the heavens,  your faithfulness to the skies.” Psalm 36:5

God our Father loved us and by his kindness gave us everlasting encouragement and good hope…”  1 Thess. 2:16a

And speaking about Jesus Christ, John writes, “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood”

So what is love anyway?  “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.  Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never ends…”  1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

With a love like this, why is it that so many people try to find their source of happiness and peace in earthly relationships and not in their relationship with God?  Clearly His is the best love imaginable!   A love where we never have to worry about rejection, lies, cheating, envy, arguments, or arrogance.  This is Perfect Love.  A kind of love that’s impossible for fallen human beings to attain here on earth.  Yet so often in relationships today we place our value in the “other person.”   We find our source of life in that individual, and if something ever happens (and it will) to disrupt the relationship, our world turns to chaos.   We put our hope for a future in them, and not our Savior.  No wonder so many relationships end in tragedy today.  We enter the relationship hoping that the other fallen human being will satisfy our deepest heart’s desires, only to be let down by them (because we are all fallen), and we feel that they no longer satisfy our emptiness, so the relationship ends.  If only we would place our source of life on Who we are supposed to… Jesus Christ.

God desires to be our source of life.  He created all people with that inner desire for a deeply satisfying love that has no limits.  When we try to find another person to fit the bill, they will  always fall short.  No one can fill that God-sized whole in your heart.   People fail us.  God never will.  Period.

Maybe your reading this and you realize, “you know… I’m doing that with my relationships…”  If that’s you, let me tell you it’s never too late to have that soul-filling love you’ve been running after.  God is standing with arms wide open, waiting for you to run into His all-encompassing love.    Perhaps you’ve been a Christian for years, but never gave this over to God… He’s calling you to change, and look to Him as your strength.  But maybe you’ve never heard about Jesus; you’re wondering what this all means…  ask Him to fill your heart.  I would also love to talk with you, my email is below.

Always remember that you are God’s special valentine, created for a purpose, and loved beyond anything you can imagine.  Never let the world or society convince you otherwise.

John 15:9-17 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.  If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

Well first off let me say hello to my Lift your voice friends again . and where to begin on Relationships & love well i have had a couple girlfriends and the most recent i was unequally yoked and it was tearing me apart and i mean don’t get me wrong she was nice and everything but there was nothing more than physical attraction and i was losing sight of God and his plan for me and i didn’t need that. it say’s in the Bible in Song of Songs what it means to be in love with another person and also it describes what it means to be in unity with one another and God has certain person in line for each and everyone of us if we would be patient and wait on the Lord like he asks us to but no we have to go be impatient fools yes i called all of us fools  99% of the time we rush off without God and “Jump off the deep end ” instead of waiting for God to get in the “pool” and ,Catch us we end up drowning in a sea of faces and just grab the closest one to ourselves and hope and pray that person is the one for us and when it ends up hurting us we scream and ask God to come save us and he does . You know why Cause he LOVES us yeah there is that 4 letter word again Dc Talk put it best when they said  love is a serious word . and Teens & Adults throw it around like it is nothing these days . The Messy Mondays guy put it best ” Like is The new Love ” and don’t Describe the things you like With the word you use to Describe You’re God  You’re Family You’re Siblings  and love it has no meaning any more Love is a verb it is not what you are it is something you actively do and feel 24/7 365 .  so before you go off and get a new Boyfriend or Girlfriend that is only gunna last 2 maybe 3 months STOP RIGHT THERE . And Pray about it   there is a quote out there and a movie also and it is “Fools Rush in ”  and i am making a new quote or possibly repeating it i am not 100% on it  . Fools Rush in But Wise men wait on the Lord ”  so be a wise person and Ask God first .

Sofa Dome

This past Sunday Lift Your Voice helped to facilitate an event at a local church. We called it Sofa Dome. It went very well. We had two bands there performing, lots of food and games, and of course the Gospel(which was the focal point of the night) was presented. There were around 200 people there, but more importantly two people responded positively to the Gospel.

LYV will be doing more events like this in the future.  Here are some pics from the evening.

Does the Bible Promote Slavery?

Posted: February 3, 2012 by liftyourvoice1 in Human Trafficking

As I’ve been preparing for this weeks show on human trafficking an interesting question came up. Does the Bible promote or condone slavery? There are after all passages in the Bible (Colossians 3:22, Ephesians 6:5, 1 Peter 2:18) where it tells slaves to obey their masters. How does one explain this to someone caught in slavery today? It could seem that the Bible does condone the institution, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Once again Hank Hanegraaf has an answer in his book “The Complete Bible Answer Book”

Does the Bible Promote Slavery?

A myth propped up by secular skeptics is that Scripture sanctions slavery. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
First, it should be noted that far from extolling the virtues of slavery, the Bible denounces slavery as sin. The New Testament goes so far as to put slave traders in the same category as murderers, adulterers, perverts, and liars (1 Timothy 1:10).

Furthermore, slavery within the Old Testament context was sanctioned due to economic realities rather than racial or sexual prejudices. Because bankruptcy laws did not exist, people would voluntarily sell themselves into slavery. A craftsman could thus use his skills in servitude to discharge a debt. Even a convicted thief could make restitution by serving as a slave (Exodus 22:3).

Finally, while the Bible as a whole recognizes the reality of slavery, it never promotes the practice of slavery. In fact, it was the application of biblical principles that ultimately led to the overthrow of slavery, both in ancient Israel and in the United States of America. Israel’s liberation from slavery in Egypt became the model for the liberation of slaves in general. In America, many are beginning to wake up to the liberating biblical truth that all people are created by God with innate equality (Genesis 1:27; Acts 17:26–28; Galatians 3:28).

1 Timothy 1:8–11
“We know that the law is good if one
uses it properly. We also know that law is made not
for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels,
the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious;
for those who kill their fathers
or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts,
for slave traders and liars and perjurers––
and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
that conforms to the glorious gospel
of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.”

Human Trafficking at the Super Bowl!!

Posted: February 3, 2012 by whoneycutt in Human Trafficking

Yes! Human sex-trafficking at the Super Bowl!  Until yesterday, I had never heard about this, nor even thought of it as a possibility, and it is not be design (at least ours) that we are talking about Human Trafficking this Friday before the Super Bowl.   I guess a Mightier Hand has put this together for us.  The information in this particular article may astound you.  It did not shock me, as such, but it did surprise me a little and saddened me – a lot.  Unfortunately, though, it makes sense, in a disgusting kind of way, that the Super Bowl is one of our country’s national and annual events that sees the most sex-trafficking of young slave women.   As floods of visitors descend on Indianapolis for the big game, and as I am writing this blog and you are reading it, the corrupt and depraved desires of men and women are being satisfied with the coerced sexual services of young slave women abducted throughout the world and from our own streets.  Read the article here –

Sex and Human Trafficking is an issue which is the underbelly of society and one of our world’s most outstanding problems.  Slavery is by no means eradicated in the world.  In fact, more human beings are slaves today in our world, than at any other time in its history; an estimated 27 million souls!  Please be sure to read Andrea’s excellent post below for detailed and graphic information on this matter.

As we have always heard, the first step to overcoming a problem is to become aware of it.  Pray for the oppressed girls and listen to our show tonight (Friday, February 3rd, 2012) form 9pm – midnight.  We will have students active in the International Justice Mission (IJM)  chapter at Liberty University lifting their voices to inform us of the serious problem that human trafficking is here in our country, right under our noses.  I am sure they will have good insights as to how to spot and even stop sex trafficking.  We will also try to tackle the difficult issue of what the Bible says about slavery.

See the IJM website here – – for more information.

Lift Your Voice airs as a life streaming program at (click the microphone to join the program).  We will also have an ongoing live chat through our facebook page (!/groups/295403217143748/) throughout the program for all our listeners to lift their voices on this issue.

For The Truth,

Too Soon to Celebrate and Too Good to Be True?

Posted: February 3, 2012 by whoneycutt in Uncategorized

Dear Listeners and Fellow Bloggers,

Just yesterday I was singing the praises of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for their bold decision to withdraw funding from Planned Parenthood.   Just today, I have to sigh in sadness and frustration as I actually remove the blog I posted because of their decision to renege on that decision.

Their reasoning is that they do not want to succumb to political pressure!  They need to get their head out of the sand!  If Planned Parenthood and the pro-choice advocates do not have a political agenda, I am Mickey Mouse!

What is really boggling is that the very problem that this foundation advocates and works for the prevention and cure of, breast cancer, has been linked to abortion in numerous documented studies ( – enough to be of serious public concern and outcry.  But now we have seen that in many cases like this, it’s more about the money; or “the Gs,” as the kids say these days.

I emailed them again today at and sent this message:

Dear Susan G. Komen Foundation,

Shame on you.  You say you are not going to kowtow to political pressure?  That is exactly what you are doing.  You don’t think PP has a political agenda?  Goodness!  Get your head out of the sand.

Also, your refunding of  Planned Parenthood is philosophically inconsistent!   The very thing you are seeking to cure has been linked to abortion in enough studies to make it a significant point of concern!  ANYTHING that poses a threat to women’s breast health is something the public hears about and ample warning is posted.  It’s all about the money, I guess. 😦

This does not mean we jumped the gun, though, or celebrated too soon.  Our effort was to send them enough positive and encouragement and response to know that there were millions who supported their choice, but apparently, the pressure from the other side, and the financial support they were threatened to lose, spoke sooner and louder.
